ABOUT

WHY CHOOSE BABEL?

ISABELA ACEBAL

I don’t need to tell you—the literary world is small. And I’m a newbie you probably haven’t heard of. But that’s okay, let’s get to know each other.

I love weird stuff. Especially, weird stuff that makes me question reality, laugh really hard, or dig into some good social commentary. Some of my favorite books that do exactly this are: Even Cowgirls Get the Blues by Tom Robbins, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

I also love non-fiction, personal development books—especially if we’re talking about spirituality or biohacking. I love all the classics: Atomic Habits, The Power of Now, and Women Who Run with Wolves—and I’m always on the look-out for new favorites.

Babel Literary Services is my love-child of all my passions: marketing, graphic design, culture, and literature. That’s why I focus on Speculative Fiction and Non-Fiction Personal Development genres, because this isn’t just a job for me—it’s what I eat, live, and breath. I LOVE reading. I LOVE analyzing trends. I LOVE creating content and marketing and illustrating and constantly learning new things. One thing has always been clear to me: I want a career that is fulfilling, meaningful, and passion-driven.

As you’ve probably already seen, I offer a few different services: digital marketing, literary scouting, and book cover design. With a Bachelor's in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and a Master's in Publishing from UPF Barcelona School of Business, I’m not just about pretty prose; I’m about strategic storytelling that sells. And I’ve jumped headfirst into the literary scene with an internship at Grupo Planeta in the Digital Area, let’s just say that I love this world.

As a Marketing Manager with 4+ years of experience in marketing and B2C sales and a Freelance Illustrator with 5+ years of experience, I decided to mix my passion for literature with my expertise in marketing and graphic design.

And I can’t forget, Babel Literary Services is also thanks to my up-bringing (Spanish/Argentinian family in California, U.S.) and 3 years of solo-traveling that exposed me to incredible countries from Vietnam to Costa Rica to Turkey. My love for languages (I’m fluent in English and Spanish—practicing French and Catalan) and immersing myself in new cultures is a big reason why I decided to become a Literary Scout.

So, why choose Babel? Because I could not be more passionate about what I do. And I have the expertise to back it up.
